About us
Last updated 4 November 2026
Vidhan Sabha India is an independent website about India’s state legislatures and the elections that fill them. We cover all 31 legislative assemblies — 28 states plus Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry — and the six states that also have a legislative council.
What we publish
- Election coverage: schedules, results, seat tallies and constituency outcomes for assembly elections and by-elections.
- Assembly news: sessions, budgets, bills, Speakers and changes in the strength of each house.
- Explainers: how a Vidhan Sabha works, how a government is formed, and why state results matter for the Rajya Sabha and the President.
- Voter help: step-by-step guides to registering, correcting your entry and finding your name in the electoral roll.
How we work
We report from primary sources wherever we can: notifications and press notes of the Election Commission of India and state Chief Electoral Officers, assembly secretariats, official gazettes and the Constitution. When we rely on news reports, we say so. Our full approach — sourcing, neutrality and corrections — is set out in our editorial policy.
We do not endorse any party or candidate. We report what parties and governments say and do, and we apply the same standards to all of them.
Who we are
The site is run by a small independent editorial desk in India. Articles carry the byline “Vidhan Sabha India Desk” unless a named writer is credited.
