Editorial policy
Last updated 4 November 2026
Readers rely on us for information about elections and the legislatures that govern them. This policy explains the standards we hold ourselves to.
Independence and neutrality
- We are not affiliated with any political party, candidate, government or campaign, and we do not accept payment for coverage.
- We report the positions and records of all parties with the same care and the same tone. Where a claim is disputed, we say who is making it and present the main responses.
- We do not publish predictions of election outcomes as fact. When we report opinion or exit polls, we name the pollster and note that polls can be wrong.
Sourcing
- We prefer primary sources: Election Commission of India press notes and results, state Chief Electoral Officer data, assembly records, gazette notifications and the Constitution.
- When an article depends on reporting by other news organisations, we credit them.
- Numbers — seats, electorate figures, dates — are checked against an official or clearly attributed source before publication. Where official figures are not yet available, we say so.
Accuracy and corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and openly. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article with the date of the change. Minor fixes such as typos are made without a note. To report an error, write to contact@vidhansabhaindia.com with the article link.
Updates
Election stories change as events unfold. Articles show both the original publication time and the time of the last significant update.
Advertising
Advertising is kept separate from editorial content. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or how. Any sponsored content will be clearly labelled.
Use of tools
We may use software tools, including AI-assisted tools, for research, translation and drafting support. Every article is reviewed by an editor, and facts are checked against sources before publication. Machine translation into Indian languages is provided by Google Translate and may contain errors; the English version is the authoritative text.
Images
Charts and graphics are made by us from official data. Where we use photographs or material from others, we credit them and use them with permission or under an appropriate licence.
